Rockstar Makita
Suzuki teammate Michael Byrne also had cause to celebrate. The Australian rider
came back from a tough first moto and a 15th-place finish
to capture a fourth-place finish in the second moto.
The overall result was an impressive fifth-place finish. Byrne is currently in
fifth place in the overall championship points
standings.
Michael
Byrne:
“I
thought today was going to be really good, I had a great time in practice and I
felt really comfortable on the Rockstar Makita Suzuki
RM-Z450. But then I got caught up in a second-turn crash in the first moto and then I got caught up in another crash and went
down again. I had to come from last twice in one moto.
In the second moto, I tried to get a good start and
be consistent. For a bad day, it turned out to be good for points so I can’t
complain.”
Rockstar Makita
Suzuki Factory Racing will race next at Unadilla Valley Sports Center in New
Berlin, New York, on Saturday, August 15, 2009.
