The US Open Supercross itself was a mixture of good and bad. On the Friday night I pulled a good start on my Factory Connection Honda CR250 and stayed out of trouble and finished strongly in 3rd place in the main event!
On Saturday night, I was looking forward to putting in the same outstanding
effort and looking for the same great results. I guess it just wasn’t meant to
be. The evening started poorly when I hurt my wrist in practice by casing a
jump. In the evening qualifiers, I had two good starts, but got knocked down in
the heat and then again in the LCQ!
Racing definitely has its ups and downs it you look purely at your
actual results.
But that's just how it goes sometimes. I'm happy with the way I rode and
looking forward to next years US Open. I'm pretty stoked for our Team Factory
Connection Honda as Mike LaRocco won anyway and fellow Aussie Chad Reed
finished well on the night as well.
Note: I have no changes to my team plans, as I’ll be with Team Factory
Connection Honda for 2003.
Later,
Burner and Therese
