Team
Factory Connection rider Michael Byrne’s title hopes for 125cc Supercross
season has been shattered. Michael is
set for surgery today (Tuesday) to have a pin put in his right thumb. Initial outlook is that he’ll be out 3 – 5 weeks.
This injury
happens at a time when “Burner” was coming into his own. Michael started the season strong in the
250cc class and followed that up with a current 4th position in the
125cc east coast series. Michael put
his Honda CR125 on the podium in the first race of the 125cc east coast series
in Minneapolis and had the speed to be a serious threat this year in the 125cc
east coast series.
Michael is “really
bummed to say the least and wants to apologize to his team and his mechanic who
have worked so hard” for the title chase in 2003.
