Round 11 – AMA Motocross Series
Southwick, Massachusetts
Motocross 338
August 23 - 24, 2008
Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s
Michael Byrne had a tough weekend but gathered as many points as possible with
an eighth-place overall finish. Currently, Byrne is in fourth place overall in
the championship points.
Michael Byrne:
“This weekend was definitely a struggle. I am not good in the sand
by any means and I knew it would be tough this weekend. I just wanted to try
and ride two solid motos on my Rockstar Makita Suzuki RM-Z450 but I fell in the
first turn in the first moto. I was dead last and came up to 11th. I tried to
ride as hard as I could and get as many points as I could. In the second moto,
I got a good start but I got pushed wide, I was around 10th or so, and then I
just fought it too hard and only came up to seventh. It wasn’t too bad but it
wasn’t great, either. I expected more of myself, after being on the podium the
last few races. I wanted to be in the top five but crashing in the first corner
of the first moto put me behind the eight ball from the get-go.”
